Teaching Philosophy in Wartime Ukraine

Since the start of Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine, I have been volunteering in Ukraine as a lecturer in philosophy. I have taught at Ukrainian Catholic University, Ivan-Franko University, Lviv National Polytechnic University, and Speak Up Language School. My work has been supported by teaching grants from the American Philosophical Association. While in Ukraine, I also volunteer at a free kitchen. I am motivated by desire to keep reason alive in dark times. For a longer discussion about teaching philosophy in Ukraine, see my article in the special edition of Studia Philosophica Estonica: Reflections on the Russia-Ukraine War. The Concord Monitor  discussed my work in article about the efforts of New Hampshire volunteers

Guiding

I was a professional trekking and mountain guide for five years, leading trip in the Alps, the Himalayas, the Cascades, and the Appalachian Mountains. The images below are from trips in Everest and Annapurna regions of Nepal, Mt. Rainier, Mont Blanc, and the White Mountains of my native New Hampshire.
